howUcandoit2 - About the Book

There's a famous Chinese proverb that says "A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step:" That's why, above all else, I encourage people who want to lose weight to get started…

I decided to write a book myself - a book that in my opinion, comprises everything I feel is important about losing weight and changing one's lifestyle for the better.

That's why this book contains the following information:

  • How to get started
  • How to stay focused
  • We are what we eat
  • How to exercise correctly
  • How to budget a weight-loss programme
  • How I did it

One of the decisions I made was choosing to work with a personal trainer. Paul Immelman's help and encouragement made such a huge difference to me, I want to acknowledge that without his guidance, it would have taken me so much longer.

I don't endorse or promote any particular weigh-loss programme. The intention of this book is to help you discover what works best for you, by sharing some of my experiences. What really matters is I did it - and now it's up to you to say the same

Do you have a question about exercise and training? Get the answer straight from a professional, you can now ask Paul Immelman's advice on any exercise and training related topic.

"Formerly Fat" Pat is a living example of what prompted my remarks on my radio show about obese people…and I'm talking huge people - that they are that way because they eat too much, exercise too little and take up too much space. Instead of staying angry with me and packing on even more kilo's, she proved the theory and took control of her life. Now she is thin, gorgeous and victorious Pat and an inspiration to others.

Call me an a-hole or call it tough love - it worked! Pat, you will forever be my biggest "loser"! Thank you for proving it can be done. And thank you for donating the royalties from your book sales to the charity for which I am a patron, Headway Gauteng. We all know of someone who has been in a car accident, had a stroke or fallen victim to some sort of traumatic brain injury. Headway is dedicated to offering support programmes to the survivors of brain injury and their families.

Thanks Pat - you helped yourself and know you are helping so many others.
